Fantasy leagues on tokenized stocks

Fantasy football, except the players are stocks.

Fill five slots under a salary cap. Name a captain. Then beat everyone else in the lobby, which is harder than it sounds, because you only score what they did not take. A blitz round settles in ten minutes. The season settles on Friday.

The roster

Every one of these is a player.

194 tokenized stocks and ETFs, read live off Robinhood Chain. NVIDIA is a franchise quarterback. SPY is a defense. A treasury fund is the punt you take when you are protecting a lead.

How it works

Three decisions, then the market does the rest.

01

Fill five slots

QB, RB, WR, WR and a FLEX, under a 50,000 salary cap. You cannot field five stars. Salary is set by dollar volume, so the famous names are the expensive ones.

02

Name a captain

One pick counts double, any slot. It is the single biggest decision on the board and the one everybody argues about afterwards.

03

Settle on the bell

Points are basis points moved from the opening of the round. When the clock hits zero the lobby is ranked and it is over. Then the next one starts.

The part that makes it a game

You only score what the lobby left behind.

Nothing moves much in ten minutes, so picking whatever is going up is not a strategy. Your points are cut by how many other managers started the same name. Being right is not enough. You have to be right and early.

Two managers both start NVIDIA. It runs +40.0 basis points. They do not get the same thing for it.

Positions

A roster, not a basket.

Positions stop the best lineup being whatever the five best names happen to be. There is one franchise slot, so the rest of the cap has to go somewhere less obvious.

QBRBWRWRFLEXfive starters, 50,000 cap
QB

Franchise

The expensive end of the pool. One slot, so you get exactly one of them.

RB

Workhorse

The middle of the board. Where most of a sensible lineup gets built.

WR

Deep threat

The cheap end, and the two slots you fill with names nobody else took.

DEF

Defense

Every ETF and fund. Only fits your FLEX, so playing it safe costs you your free slot.

Formats

Four clocks, one game.

Every format is the same five slots and the same cap. What changes is how long you are committed for and how deep into the board you are allowed to draft.

Blitz

10 minutes

top 60 by volume

Back to back, around the clock, 720 of them a week. This is the one that proves the thing pays out, because you watch it happen five times before you have thought about entering anything bigger.

Power Hour

60 minutes

top 120 by volume

Long enough for the mid caps to actually move, short enough to play on a break. A hundred and twenty a week.

The Session

9:30 to 16:00 ET

the full board

One lineup, one regular trading day. The lottery tickets are live here, because a whole session dwarfs their spread.

The Season

Sunday night to Friday

the full board

Drafted live on Sunday night, then the week opens at eight. Snake order, no salary cap: if someone takes NVIDIA, nobody else can have it until Friday.

The ladder

Blitz results earn your draft position.

The ten minute game is not a side mode, it is qualifying. Grind blitzes all week and you climb the ladder. Show up on Sunday night with the first pick, or show up and draft last. The short loop is how you earn the thing that actually matters.

These tokens trade around the clock from Sunday evening to Friday evening, so a blitz runs at three in the morning if you do. The weekend is the only dead air, which is exactly what makes Sunday night worth showing up for.

Open the draft room

Scoring you can check

The boring decisions, made on purpose.

Most of the work in a game like this is in the edge cases, because that is where a result quietly becomes wrong while still looking completely fine.

A stock split cannot wipe you out

Scoring runs on token value, not share price. CrowdStrike is sitting at a multiplier of 4.0 from a forward split right now. Score the raw price and everybody holding it reads as down 75% for no reason at all.

A halt voids, it does not score flat

Otherwise halting becomes a weapon: take a lead, and any pick that stops printing is free protection for it. A halted name is removed from the result instead.

An unknown is never a zero

If a quote cannot be read, that pick voids and your lineup shows a partial rather than a total. A number that looks like a real result but is not is worse than no number.

Blitz only drafts liquid names

The ten minute pool is the top 60 by dollar volume. Further down the board a ten minute move is smaller than the spread, and you would be scoring quote flicker rather than the market.

Known gaps

What is not finished.

This is early. It is more useful to say which parts than to let you find them.

  • Outside market hours the tape is simulated, and every screen says so while it is.
  • No wallet and no money yet. Lobbies live in server memory and do not survive a restart.
  • Your blitz ladder and your drafted roster are stored in this browser only, so they do not follow you to another device.
  • The other eleven managers in the draft room are bots, not people.
  • Market holidays are not handled and read as a normal trading day.

The next round starts in under ten minutes.
